We are sad to share with you the news that Betty Sarafin’s partner, Gary Dillon, died of his cancer Sunday night, April 22, after a long and courageous struggle. Our prayers are with Betty and the rest of his family in his death, and pray that God’s peace surround them as it surely now surrounds him. A memorial service is planned in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, but there was a visitation here in Berea April 24. Condolences can be sent to Betty at 102 Pauley Ct., Berea. A memorial service will be held for him here at Union Church on May 27, 2:30 pm.
Great news! Jenny Hobson has won the Unsung Heroes of Social Change Award given by UK’s College of Social Work. The award shares that her creation of “the ‘Letters to Mitch’ campaign has promoted greater levels of commitment to the democratic process.” Jenny’s Letters to Mitch show us a human, wry, and loving way to speak serious truths to the seemingly numb ears of the political establishment. https://www.facebook.com/letterstomitch/
