This is a busy time of year for the group! This past weekend was the first of two weekends where we volunteer with the CELTS program at Berea College to carry out the annual “Hunger Hurts” food drive. We walked around neighborhoods and dropped off bags at each home. Next weekend, we will do the same route and pick the bags up. If you live in Berea, make sure your bags are ready on the porch Saturday morning!
This past Sunday, several of us participated in a wonderful card making workshop put on by Teri Mehler and Berea Tourism. We got some useful templates and materials, and learned some interesting techniques for make both cards and envelopes. We will take these skills and materials back to the whole youth group, and do some card making projects, partnering with the Nurture and Care Board to get them out to community members who need some uplifting. Thank you Teri for making this happen!
Here in the next few weeks, the Youth Group will start a fundraiser; partnering with the Equal Exchange fair trade company selling coffee, hot cocoa, teas, and chocolates. These make great stocking stuffers and little gifts for the holidays, so make sure you check with a youth group member in November to order some of these.
