Beloved congregation,
A lot of exciting things are happening with our youth group. Since you all make this possible for us, we thought we should share what we are up to!
In September, the group went down to Camp Levi Jackson outside of London where we had a great time doing the Tree Tops Adventure ropes courses. This activity helped us bond as a group, and let us practice overcoming our fears! Everyone did a fantastic job and came home safe. Most of us fell asleep on the bus ride back. Special thanks to the Murphy family for allowing us to use their bus, and to Mike Murphy for driving.
In October, we will be participating in the annual Hunger Hurts food drive put on by the CELTS program at Berea College. This is a two weekend event where we drop off bags and instructions on doorsteps on the 19th, and then go back to pick them up on the 26th (hopefully they are full of food!). This happens in neighborhoods all over Berea. Our Youth Group is given a route to complete, and they will visit dozens of homes to make this happen. If you live in Berea City limits, please participate! Who knows, maybe it will be one of our youth knocking on your door!
Our group has also been discussing some important topics on Wednesday nights – topics such as mental health and school violence. We always have great conversations around these kinds of issues, and we always make sure to break up the seriousness with games and fun.
Thank you for all your support. We will give you another update soon!
