Hello Church Family,
I wanted to update you on what is going on with the Youth Group during these trying times. The group is still meeting regularly on Wednesday nights via ZOOM, an online video meeting platform. While this works reasonably well, it is obviously not the same as meeting in person. It is still great to see everyone, and hear about how the youth are dealing with life at home. I am glad to report that, as far as I know, everyone is safe and has what they need currently. Boredom and loneliness are taking a toll on our youth, like it has on many of us, but they are hanging in there. I do want to recognize that many, especially our Seniors, are missing out on some very important life events (prom, graduations, trips, etc.). So keep them in your prayers, and if you get a chance, find ways to reach out to all of the youth in your life who might have had to postpone their dreams due to COVID-19.
Here are some of the activities we have been doing on Wednesday nights via ZOOM:
- The week before last, we were able to do a scavenger hunt where everyone had to rush to find a list of items in their homes. We had two winners that tied, and each got a special (well sanitized) prize dropped off at their home. My apologies to all the parents who might have had their homes ransacked.
- Last week, we had a youth group homecoming where we invited some Youth Group alumni to join the group, and give us an update about life since graduation, and how they are currently dealing with COVID-19.
My hope is that, while many activities have been cancelled, we might still be able to do a talent show by virtually means and involve the rest of the church. There are some technical and logistical challenges to doing this, but we will try to overcome these and share our talents with you. We also need additional talent, so if you have a talent you can showcase with us (no matter what your age) please contact me and let me know. We would love to incorporate that into our show.
