We’re Worshiping with First Christian Church in a Combined Service, October 7!
On October 7th there will be no service at Union Church. Instead, we will be the guests of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) two blocks away! There are even two services to choose from: 8:30 am or 10:40 am. All three pastors: our Rev. Kent and FC’s Rev. Mark and Rev. Lisa Caldwell-Reiss will be leading both services. In addition our choirs, both handbell and vocal, will be combining for some wonderful praise and song. You will not want to miss!
Since both of our churches were founded by the Rev. John G. Fee, we share a special bond and so have worshiped together on World Communion Sunday for more than 20 years. Together we celebrate God’s work in beloved communities around the world. Our combined worship is testament to and prayer for a greater unity that is bigger than any one congregation.
First Christian Church is next door to the new Berea City Hall (206 Chestnut St) , where there will be plenty of parking. If the weather is good, you are also invited to park at Union Church and make the short walk across campus.
The choirs are singing only at the 10:40 am service, but everyone is welcome to either or both worship opportunities. Our offering will support the church named on the check or envelope. Any undesignated plate offering will be shared to Berea Faith Community Outreach (BFCO) to assist their vital work. Contributions to the Food Bank especially welcomed as well on this Sunday.
Rev. Lisa is seeking photos for slides for the service. If you have taken (or have permission to use) images of any of the below phrases, interpreted however you choose, please send to her at fccberea@gmail.com Thank you!
