Howard and Shirley Carlberg invite you to two events this weekend.
Saturday: Wassail, wassail all over the town – literally! Wassailing, for us, is a visiting tradition, like caroling. We meander door to door, singing our song and hoping to be invited in for a dram. However, we minimize the possibility of singing to an empty house by setting our route and schedule ahead of time. At the first house, we tank up on caffeine and learn our song. At each subsequent house, we sing our song and hope to be invited in. We stay but a short time, eating and drinking everything in sight, then continue on our way to accost the next house on the list. There will be singing at some, dancing at others, chatting and general silliness at all of them. Join the tour when you can, leave when you must, or stay all day – you’ll be welcomed! Email Shirley at nonesuch_1998@yahoo.com for a schedule.
Sunday: Come for a potluck supper and house concert with The Skipping Stones, Berea College alum Katie Maginel and musical partner Cub Wyse. They play early American and Old Time string band music with a bluesy feel. Banjos and fiddles and more – oh my! We’re at 128 N Broadway, above the Fudge Shop in Old Town. Potluck at 5:30, concert at 7:00, sliding scale donation ($5-15 adults, $2-5 students). Call for more info: 859-985-5501.
