March 10, Annual Meeting. Union Church’s Annual Meeting, at which we review & members vote upon the 2018 Annual Report and conduct other business of the church. After worship and Lenten Lunch.
Music Events
Feb. 15, SongFarmers Gathering, everyone welcome! 5:30 supper in the Community Room, 6:30 music. SongFarmers’ mission is to gather together a community of front porch minded musicians and music lovers to enhance and empower our personal careers, families and communities through opportunities for presentation, preservation and promotion of live acoustic roots music. SongFarmers are artists and supportive audience members who use music to make their families, hometowns and lives better … it’s about the sheer love of live acoustic music.
Feb. 23, Festival of Spirituals. Berea College’s annual Festival of Spirituals will be Saturday, Feb. 23. The all-day event includes a combination of free workshops, recitals and concerts featuring presentations and performances led by members of the Berea College Music Department faculty and guest artists. The Evening Concert will begin at 7 p.m. at Union Church. The Festival of Spirituals is open to the public, so everyone is welcome to attend all sessions and concerts and to participate in the Festival chorus.
Regular Weekly Schedule
Sundays through March 10 – Room in the Inn in our Community Room. Room in the Inn is:
- an opportunity to directly intervene in homelessness
- a way for churches and community groups to welcome in small groups
- a chance for both guests and hosts to change
- about serving without prejudice or pride and about accepting everyone
Union Church will participate as one of the “Inns” every Sunday night and we are looking for volunteers who can help with things like
- cooking a meal or cleaning up afterwards;
- moving supplies from one location to another;
- doing laundry;
- spending the night at church with our guests on the nights they are here.

Zen Meditation every weekday, 8:00 am. Join us for 20 minutes of unstructured quiet meditation in beautiful Cowan Chapel, on the Scaffold Cane Road side of the church.
Mondays at 6:30 pm, Cowan Chapel. David Parks will offer Zen teaching: Meditation, Koans, Conversation, 6:30 – 8:00 pm, Cowan Chapel.
Wednesday Nite Live (WNL)! Potluck Wednesday for the first Wednesday of the month. The Union Church community gathers for a simple supper at 5:45 pm, September through May, in the Community Room (basement level, handicap accessible by ramp near the playground) a potluck this week – first Wednesdays of the month. After a few announcements, recognition of birthdays and prayer, it’s supper time! No need to call ahead – you, your friends, neighbors, college students, visitors to Berea, are welcome to come for food and fellowship – whether once, once in a while, or every week. After supper:

Thursday Noon Bible Study. Meet with Rev. Carla in the Classroom at noon to reflect upon the Scripture for the week and issues of the day.
Thursdays — our Music Director, Bernardo Scarambone, will teach a very basic music reading class right before choir (5:45 pm). Everyone is welcome to join them. 6:15 pm Choir in the 3rd Floor Choir Room
Fridays – 1:30 pm, Bridge Club. Call Doug Hindman at 582-5806.
Union Church also hosts AA and Al-Anon and Al-Anon Step Study meetings.
