Our Wednesday Nite Lives have a couple of new opportunities for Lent! 2 classes will begin tonight at 6:30. Come for supper at 5:45 & stay for a class. Register at union-church.org/lent2015 — or just come!
The QiGong Workshop has been rescheduled for this coming Saturday, 2/28, so you haven’t missed it!
Faith and Money Wednesday Evenings, 6:30 –7:30pm, Office Classroom
We’re going there! This is the topic no one wants to talk about, but we all think about. From the deeply spiritual to the ever-so-practical, a team of members from Union Church will lead us through a series of workshops on how to figure out what we believe and how those values guide our financial decisions like making a budget, getting out of debt, investing, making a will, and what generosity means for each of us.
Post-Traumatic Church Syndrome Support Group Wednesday Evenings, 6:30-8:00 pm, Wayside Room (next to the parlor on the main floor)
Sadly, church has not always been a place of healing and love for all people. This group, led by the Rev. Dr. Carol Poston, LMFT, will be a support/study group for those who have been wounded by the church. Research shows that working through the wounds with a trusted individual or group, and engaging in theological reflection and study helps wounded individuals to discover a renewed sense of connection to themselves, to community and to spiritual depths. Weekly attendance is encouraged to obtain the most benefit from the process.
Project Linus — Making Blankets for Children in Need Saturday, February 28th, 9am-2pm, Community Room
A great opportunity to engage in intergenerational service and fun! People of all ages are invited to help make blankets for children in crisis situations. Project Linus gives these blankets to children in hospitals, victims of fire and violence, and other traumatic situations. Together we can help! Bring sewing machines, fabric scissors, and rotary cutting supplies if you have them, and a nibbly to share for lunch. You can come for part or all of the time.
Ongoing …. Lent Photo-A-Day Journal Daily in Lent, on your own time
Each day in lent has an assigned word. Take a photo or upload one to the Union Church Berea Facebook page or UnionChurchKY twitter feed. Use the hashtag #UCLent2015 and the word of the day. At the end of Lent, we’ll have a gorgeous montage of spiritual images!
Speak Your True Self
By Appointment with Rev. Kent and Rev. Rachel. Call the office (859-986-3725) or email kgilbert@union-church.org or rsmallstokes@union-church.org
Inside we carry the story: Full of both joys and burdens, each person bears a story of how you came to be “you” in this place and at this time. Too often there isn’t time to tell the story of you. There may be untold, or unexplored pain. A safe, non-judging, open heart is needed to receive and hold our stories. For Lent this year, your pastors offer you a time of heartfelt listening. We will bear witness to the holy at work in you and hold your story with you. Please make an appointment that is convenient for you so we can allow you uninterrupted time.
