This message from the El Salvador delegation was written yesterday, June 13th:
Blessings/Bendigas!
We are happy to inform you that the Union Church delegation to El Salvador has safely arrived in San Salvador along with their luggage!!!! After a 4:30am departure and eight hours of travel, this felt nothing short of a miracle.
We began our first day at the guest house by enjoying a fabulous typical salvadoran dish: “pupusas.”
For our first day, we just got acquainted with our surroundings, settled in and got a little bit of rest before we picking up speed tomorrow. The power went out in the middle of dinner and stayed out all night, so we finished our evening by candlelight — including a raucous game of Yahtzee!
We will send updates as much as we can. Once we are in the countryside, we will not have reliable internet (if anything at all). We will send what we can.
We are very much looking forward to our time together in El Salvador. We’re getting to know one another, learning more about this beautiful country, doing hard work and having lots of fun.
Love to all our compadres in Berea!
Rev. Rachel on behalf of the delegation.
