Union Church Partners With Several Organizations to Help Orphans in Uganda Have Clean Water!
Union Church member Deborah Payne spent three weeks in Uganda on behalf of MedWater, an organization that helps impoverished communities get access to clean water. On this trip, she helped install and teach the use of a water chlorination system for an orphanage in Uganda. Samuel’s Kids Orphanage is caring for 30 kids, most who have lost either one or both of their parents due to HIV/AIDS or other causes. They also installed a water collection tank, and introduced Tippy Taps to help kids wash their hands. (Watch a video of Deborah teaching here!) Union Church sent a $500 donation to Samuel’s Kids, and also supported the Katosi Women’s Development Trust, which co-sponsored the installation. Deborah taught the women at Katosi how to use the chlorinator, and then they trained the people at the orphanage how to use it.
Welcome to new members Dave Napier and Susan & Stan Kramer!!
