Since March, a group of teens has been meeting weekly at the church to learn about Sex, Sexuality, and how it relates to their faith and every other aspect of their lives. Our Whole Lives (OWL) is a unique, holistic curriculum about Sex and Sexuality that was developed in partnership between the United Church of Christ and Unitarian Universalist Churches. The OWL program covers all age groups by offering a range of age-appropriate curriculum and training of facilitators. Youth Director Chris McKenzie was trained and certified in the fall of 2017, and with the help and support of Carla Gilbert, also a certified OWL instructor, led the program for teens this Spring. The age range for this group was 10th-12th, but in the future, programs for other age ranges are being considered.
A special thanks to Rev. Carla Gilbert for volunteering to help lead the OWL program this Spring. Her time and efforts went into creating a program that uniquely serves the youth in our community.
