The Madison County Health Department is proposing implementation of a Syringe Exchange Program. The Syringe Exchange Program’s goal is to reduce the transmission of bloodborne pathogens in the community by utilizing a harm reduction program and to reduce the risk of accidental needle sticks caused by improper disposal of used needles. The program will implement a one-for-one model.
