Join the church today! On a 3rd Sunday of the month, there’s an opportunity to unite in membership with Union Church. Rev. Kent will make the invitation toward the end of the service. YOU are welcome here!!
Rev. Kent will be travelling next week and Rev. Dr. LeSette Wright will bring us the Word. Rev. Wright is Dean of the Chapel at Berea College’s Willis D. Weatherford Campus Christian Center.
Church Members Seth and Laurel Hutchins are looking for a rental house or apartment. If you know of any availability, please contact Rev. Kent or the church office.
Union Church Book Group Gathering: watch for updates! Explore the intersection of faith and the wide scope of human endeavors. We’ll gather after church TODAY to decide our best meeting time and pick our first book! All guests, members, and friends are welcome to join in a community discussion of topics ranging from science to politics to arts and letters. If you have suggestions for interesting books, send them to Steve Rutledge who will help convene (and corral!) the group: srutledge514@gmail.com. Suggestions can also be sent or dropped off to the church office.
Compline tonight, 6:30 pm. The Sabbath Compline at Cowan Chapel is a night prayer of psalm, silence, and song — a creative hush with God at the end of the day at the beginning of the week, Sunday evenings at 6:30.
Each week, this short contemplative worship includes a psalm and a Taizé song. Cowan Chapel is adjacent to Union Church on the Scaffold Cane side.
Community Meals Every Wednesday 5:30pm-6:30pm: “Open Table” is a “pay what you can” ($0-$$) catered meal open to anyone. Chef Deb Beishline and a wonderful crew of volunteers prepare the menu each week always with GF and Vegetarian-friendly options (other needs can be accommodated on request!). Our hope is to remember the gifts of connection with great food the chance to “rub elbows” with neighbors. The food is great, the company is better, the hungry are fed, and we pray the love Jesus will be shown!
