This week in our readings Paul spoke of the foolishness of the Gospel saving those who are perishing and Jesus turned the tables on the money changers in the 2nd chapter of John. Here is the prayer offered by Bill Srsic, our worship leader, as we consider the tables in our lives that need to be overthrown.
Maker and master of our intellect, our best thoughts, our finest hours, be sovereign too of all that gives us life well beyond the reason of this world. We thank you for the irrational loves and the empowering dalliances of our souls. For the movement of music to stir us, for the face of beauty to move us we sing with all of creation. May such foolishness as these resuscitations of our spirits buoy us when the cool steel “wisdom” of the world would proclaim destitution or destruction. Overturn our so-called wisdom with wiser passions. Flip the tables around us and wake within our being the purposes of love and justice, of light and joy, of hope and healing. If the world makes us too wise to care, Lord God, then make us foolish, fast and furious enough to know the greater power of love and live in its power. –written by Rev. Kent Gilbert
