Pentecost is a day for “Flipping the Script.” Just when the disciples felt most powerless and unheard, with a mighty rush they are speaking everyone’s language. They proclaim from the bottom, the liberation and hope that comes from above. It is that same wind that blows through us now and empowers transformation both personal and world-wide. Here is Rev. Rachel’s prayer from our service. May it be a blessing all this week!
God of fire, pour out your tongues of grace and mercy upon all of us. Give us language to speak of your love, and give us ears to hear it in our own native tongues. Bring your refining fire of justice to all places of oppression, and inspire within the world a burning for your peace and justice. –Rev. Rachel Small Stokes
