Kentucky has some of the poorest counties and people in the nation, yet the governor is applying for a medicaid waiver that would allow the state to deprive more than 95,000 citizens of health care benefits. In addition, to those who retain medicaid services, his proposal would require them to volunteer 20 hours a week or face losing coverage. The Kentucky Council of Churches opposes this application, as do many other credible health care providers.
A public comment period is mandatory for these changes, but the times have been moved. We were just made aware of one tomorrow: MONDAY, July 17th, 2017 to be held at the State Capitol Annex, 10:00a to 12:00 noon, room 125. (For more information CLICK HERE to see the FaceBook Information Page). If you can come, please meet in room 149 first where you will be given background and instructions on how to make your comments. For background on the proposed changes visit KYVoicesforHealth.Org.
If you can’t go, but would still like to have your comments recorded click here for the Kentucky Voices for Health Comment Survey. Your comments will be printed and presented to the committee reviewing the application.
Gov. Bevin seems to be counting on little to no comment on this substantial and punitive change to the provision of services in the commonwealth. Please make your voice heard.
