Well, after months of planning, the day has finally come to pick, pack, and pull my travel kit and kaboodle into a plane and fly about as far as you go from Berea. Thanks to all of your generosity for my 15th anniversary, I’m headed off this morning to Hokuto, Japan, our sister city, and the place where the “other” peace bell hangs. I’m fortunate to be traveling with 19 other Madison county members of the delegation including 3 members of Union Church and other community dignitaries. Hold us in your thoughts, if you can spare a moment!
While there’s only a few of us going, we are reminded in going that love and care is so much wider than just what we can see. I will be thinking of you while I’m gone, and hoping like the wise of old, to bring treasures from the East. If it cannot be pearls and gold, I hope it will at least be treasures of friendships made and maintained, and stories of care that transcend place and distance.
I’ll try to post some pictures from the trip here, so stay tuned! Rev. Rachel has all well in hand while I’m gone, and if I can I’ll try to log in to see her her sermon next week!
Much love and many blessings,
Rev. Kent
