Climate Change Discussion Group today at 3 pm
Important Climate Change Meeting Today, 3 pm
Please join us in the Union Church Community Room for our Climate Change meeting. Special guests will be two local school board candidates: Rebecca Blankenship, who is running as a write-in candidate for the Berea Community School Board, and Susan Haddix, running for the Madison County School Board. We look forward to engaging with them and hearing how they hope to address climate change by limiting the carbon footprint of our schools and other measures. This is the second meeting that was organized around Katherine Hayhoes book Saving Us ….. but has moved quickly into a group wanting to move forward with local action and beyond, as well as providing support for those of us that would like to see changes made. Here are links to these two candidates:

All Saints Day Photos Needed for Nov. 6 Service
We’ll observe All Saints Day on November 6 at worship. Union Church will share a video “ofrenda,” with pictures of those who have died and whom we are remembering. In Latin traditions, an ofrenda altar with photos is often set up in the house during the annual and traditional Día de los Muertos celebration. You are invited to submit a photo of your beloved one for inclusion in our ofrenda. Those who have recently passed, and those who have died long ago: all are part of the great cloud of witnesses to God’s grace and love. Please send by noon on Nov. 3 – thanks! Use THIS FORM or email to office@union-church.org.Or do it the old-fashioned way – drop off in the office!
Union Church’s Auction Event!
Mark your calendars! The Union Church auction to benefit flood relief in Eastern Kentucky is scheduled to go online Monday, November 7 and close at 6 pm on Friday, November 11.
The items will be displayed for viewing in the community room on Friday, November 11 from 3 until 6 pm. If you are not able to come between these hours on Friday, feel free to come help with set up on Thursday all day beginning at 9.
All items must be picked up on Saturday, November 12 from 9 to 3pm or by arrangement.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to bid on some fabulous treasures from art work and antiques to handmade baskets and crystal candle holders. A link to the auction will be forwarded as soon as we get it from Ford Brothers.
The Mission & Service Board wants to thank all the people in the congregation and community who have generously donated treasures. In fact, we have been blessed with so many wonderful things that we were not able to post them all. Sooo … we intend to have a live/silent auction later in the winter or spring. Two in one! Double our pleasure; double our fun.
