Oct. 31, Online Auction begins. The Mission & Service Board auction to benefit Room in the Inn (RITI) will go live on Oct. 31 and close at 6 pm on Thursday, Nov. 6. In-person viewing will be in the Community Room on November 6 from noon to 5:30 & pick-up for auction items will be Friday Nov. 7 from noon to 6 pm.
We’ll observe All Saints Day next Sunday, on November 2, at worship. Union Church will create an “ofrenda,” with pictures of those who have died and whom we are remembering. In Latin traditions, an ofrenda altar with photos is often set up in the house during the annual and traditional Día de los Muertos celebration.
You are invited to submit a photo of your beloved one for inclusion in our ofrenda by using the form HERE. Those who have recently passed, and those who have died long ago: all are part of the great cloud of witnesses to God’s grace and love. Please send by noon Thursday, Oct. 30. Thanks!
Open Table Community Meals Every Wednesday 5:30pm-6:30pm:“Open Table” is a “pay what you can” ($0-$$) catered meal open to anyone. Chef Deb Beishline and a wonderful crew of volunteers prepare the menu each week always with gluten-free and vegetarian-friendly options . Our hope is to remember the gifts of connection with great food the chance to “rub elbows” with neighbors. The food is great, the company is better, the hungry are fed, and we pray the love Jesus will be shown!

Richmond Area Arts Council hosting a special Japanese Themed Gala, November 22:
The Richmond Area Arts Council will be host an event on Nov. 22 entitled “A Celebration of Japanese Arts.” The program will feature performances by The Columbus Koto Ensemble and The Berea College Taiko Ensemble as well as a large calligraphy performance by representatives from the Knox Asian Festival. A hibachi dinner will be provided by Koto Japanese Bistro. The event will be held at the Richmond Area Arts Center located at 399 W. Water St. and an artist reception featuring the Japanese-inspired works of Gentry Deck will take place prior to the performance from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Please reserve your seats as no tickets will be available at the door. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at www.artsinrichmond.org under “events” or by calling 859-624-4242. RAAC members will receive a 10% discount. Astronomy news from Jeff Hutton: Hey everybody! For the next few evenings grab your binoculars and find a low western horizon and locate the bright star called Arcturus, about to set, Look a little above the star and see Comet Lemmon. Use this handy finder chart. The name comes from the observatory in Arizona from which the comet was first spotted.
