A warm welcome to Jennifer Elam’s Uncle Robert, his wife Jane and daughter Mandy, from their family farm in Lexington and Jane’s sister Carolyn from North Carolina! Jane and Carolyn’s dad, Joseph Smith, was born in Clover Bottom, Ky in 1898, to a family that loved the Lord and were faithful. He grew up in a church there but joined Union in the 1920s and never moved his membership, even when he moved to Paris, Ky and lived until he passed at 90.
Next week join us as we welcome Dr. E.J. Stokes to the Pulpit! Rev. Kent must be gone one more Sunday as he helps lead the Madison County delegation to our sister city, Hokuto, Japan. Dr. E.J. Stokes, Union Church member, professor of Music at Berea College, and director of the Black Music Ensemble will bring the word that Sunday with inimitable grace you will not want to miss!
Do you want to be part of creating the world we want to live in? Join us on October 25 from 9am to 1:30pm for a Strategic Doing Workshop. In 4.5 hours, we will move from talking about what we could do to meet the demands of this time, to planning what we will do. Bring your ideas, passion, and willingness to be part of the change you want to see.
Please let us know you’re coming!! Use the QR code to fill in the form, or call the office if that’s easier (859-986-3725)
Our Mission and Service Board is collecting food for the Madison County backpack program. This backpack goes home with children to make sure they have access to food over the weekend. There is a bin in the vestibule with a photo of the food needed. These items are the most expensive for the program to purchase. Will you please add one of two cans to your grocery list? Your donations are much appreciated!
Open Table Community Meals Every Wednesday 5:30pm-6:30pm:“Open Table” is a “pay what you can” ($0-$$) catered meal open to anyone. Chef Deb Beishline and a wonderful crew of volunteers prepare the menu each week always with GF and Vegetarian-friendly options . Our hope is to remember the gifts of connection with great food the chance to “rub elbows” with neighbors. The food is great, the company is better, the hungry are fed, and we pray the love Jesus will be shown!
