Prelude It Is Well With My Soul arr. E. Whitsett
¨ Call to Worship
¨ Gathering Prayer
One: There is a richness here – a richness that greets and grows and holds and challenges and keeps.
There is a richness here – a richness that surrounds and brings and delivers and gives.
The richness holds us in our weakness, fills us in our hunger, finds us when we’re lost.
So here, richly blessed, we have come, and we have been found.
Let this time together inspire us in richness and grace.
All: So beckoned, we come. Amen.
¨ Opening Hymn #6 Sing Praise to God Mit Freuden Zart
¨ Prayer of Approach and Confession
One: There is a richness here – a gorgeous, flowing richness of unending abundance. But that doesn’t mean that it guides us. Our ways – within and beyond our control – speak of something different: of lack, of fear, of something other than an acknowledgement of God’s endless and beautiful river of grace.
All: But how do we step into that river? Do we step into it with trust? Do we trust the current of God’s generous gifts?
One: Or do we run from the river? For when we run, when we turn away from God’s gifts in distrust, we lose the refreshment and joy of that richness…
And something else reigns.
All: Then, what’s left?
One: Now is the time – now is the time to consider how we have distrusted God’s abundance.
Now is the time – now is the time to begin something new.
Now is the time – now is the time to trust … differently.
[A brief silence is kept]
¨ Words of Assurance
One: Let us pray: We haven’t always trusted, God. But we hope now to trust in your goodness.
All: We acknowledge the richness of your blessings. We see your flowing river of love. And we wade into your grace.
One: There is a richness – a richness that says “yes” – eternally – even in the face of our behavioral “no”s.
There is a richness that penetrates distrust and offers so much more. This richness forgives and gives even more.
All: We know this forgiveness. And we thank you, God. Amen.
¨ Passing the Peace of Jesus Christ
All who come to this sanctuary are welcome companions on this day! You are invited to turn to those nearest you and greet them with words of peace and joy.
Anthem Precious Lord Dorsey, Carter
Union Church Choir
1. Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on, let me stand; I am tired, I am weak, I am worn. Through the storm, through the night, lead me on to the light; take my hand precious Lord, lead me home.
2. When my way grows drear, precious Lord linger near. When my life is almost gone, hear my cry, hear my call, hold my hand lest I fall; take my hand precious Lord, lead me home.
3. When the darkness appears and the night draws near, and the day is past and gone, at the river I stand, guide my feet, hold my hand, take my hand precious Lord, lead me home.

Gifts given for Love to flow
Call to Offering
Our gifts help sustain this particular community of caring by sustaining the building, pastors and staff, and all the materials that make our ministry of healing, justice, and teaching available to all in need. In addition, a good portion of our contributions flows out to aid to those in need via many external agencies.
This can now be done online or by text to 859-448-3403 (Example: Text “$50.00 Offering” to contribute to the ongoing ministries, or add “youth,” or “missions” or designation of your choice to benefit one in particular.)
Your contribution is love made visible. Thank you!
