Annual Meeting March 17, 3 pm, in the Community room or by Zoom. We’ll gather to vote on the slate of Officers and Board Member nominees, the reception of the Annual Report and conduct other business of the church. All welcome, members get a vote.
Hiring Update: We want everyone to know that we are moving forward with the work of hiring a Director of Development that was report at the December Congregational meeting and numerous board and church council meetings.
The interview team is Kent Gilbert, Nancy Adams (Administration Board), Patti Smithson (Finance Board), Tim Monroe, and Dave Kobersmith (Church Administrator), Rev. Kent and Dave have been guided in the process by our consultant from Generis, Jeff Hensley.
The team has met three times to set up interview questions and review the over 18 candidates. We hope to finish our first round of interviews this week and our goal is to fill the position this month.
The work with Generis and the possibility to pay for this position is all due to an anonymous gift in the summer of 2023. We refer to this gift as the Development Grant and are grateful for the opportunities this grant has provided for our church!

Union Church friends are invited to an Easter sunrise service at White’s Memorial Presbyterian (401 White Station Rd., Berea) March 31st at 7:00 am and followed by a light breakfast.
Thai Lunch fundraiser April 14! Union Church college student ministry, ConneXions, is working to raise funds for our Spring Retreat to the Smoky Mountains. We are offering this Thai Luncheon event which will include live music with Berea College student, Cansas Dowell,Original hand-made jewelry for sale by student, Chloe Beyler, and an incredible Thai meal prepared by Betsy Whaley.
Reserve here so we will know how much food to prepare. We recommend a minimum donation of $15/person, however you do not have to donate that much, or anything, to enjoy this opportunity. We hope to raise at least $1,800 and encourage you to invite others to come.

Giving Thanks for Worship Leaders and Greeters: The Worship Board is so appreciative of all who volunteer to give voice to scripture and hands to “welcome” by being readers and greeters. If you would like to help, please sign up at coffee hour for the Sunday of your choice. All voices, ages, and experience level (or lack thereof!) are welcome. We’ll help you help the whole congregation!
Name Tags are Hospitality in Action. Name tags help us all from newcomers to old-timers. Stick on tags are always available in the vestibules and near the entrances and anyone can request a permanent one. We’ll make it and put it in the racks for next week! See a greeter or mark your pew folder sheet to get one made for you!
Amateur astronomer Jeff Hutton and the Pinnacles Astronomy Club are planning to lead a group of interested persons to Indiana on April 8 to experience the Biggest Show (Above) the Earth!
We’ll leave the Union Church the morning of Monday, April 8 and be back by evening, traffic permitting. Cost will be $75 if we provide transport and $25 if you meet us at the observing site. This trip is open to everyone! REGISTER HERE. The cost includes one more orientation presentation March 21, at 7 pm, in the Office Level Classroom.
Jeff will offer information about this amazing event at the Forestry Outreach Center on March 22 at 7PM, followed by star gazing through telescopes.
On Saturday, March 30, at 2PM, Jeff will offer a “Safe Solar Viewing” workshop. We’ll have 14 safe solar projection kits available for you to keep and use on the big day. First come, first served.
