This year’s Lenten theme will be an all-church focus on where we’re headed next in discerning God’s path for Union Church. As part of this, we invite your purchase of An Other Kingdom by Walter Brueggemann for an all-church read. We’ll be hosting weekly discussion groups on this book, as well as an online group.
We also encourage you to take on a spiritual discipline or let go of a destructive or distracting habit as a way of focusing your spirit toward God’s good will for your life. A few church members have offered to lead some disciplines; you can also create your own.
At Union Church:
Lenten lunches. Every Sunday after worship, in the Community Room, through March 18. Gather at table to build community and form new relationships. Each lunch is cooked by two of our Boards. Recommended donation is $5 person or a half-hour of cleanup after lunch.
Reading group, led by Rev. Kent, focusing on An Other Kingdom meets in the Conference Room Sundays, 1 pm, Classroom
Weekly Actions for Social Justice. Jenny Hobson, who writes #letterstomitch every week, will offer a letter-writing suggestion each week in the Monday Announcements. Join her, and if you’re a social media person, post about it using the hashtag #UCLent2018.
Dances of Universal Peace. March 18, 3:30-5 pm. Community Room. Join a worldwide movement for peace through dance. Led by Carla Gilbert, the gathered group will be taught and will dance sacred steps from around the world, sharing as we do in prayers of peace and harmony.
Lent Photo–A-Day.
Rachael White will lead us in a word of the day on Facebook for posting reflections. These can be
