New Members Welcomed today. As a family of faith committed to boldly & creatively embodying the life and ministry of Jesus, we would like to join with YOU. We’d like to be a context and inspiration for your own spiritual path, and work with you to make your heart, your world, your life more peace-filled and joy-full.
Congratulations to Steve Bolster, newly named co-director of the Kentucky Bach Choir! He will serve alongside trusted colleague Vicki Bell and reports that he and Vicki had hoped for this outcome. Soli Deo Gloria!
Today we send church family and friends into the next steps on their journey. Steve and Teresa Gowler leave us today to move to their new home in Louisville, near children and grandchildren leaving a legacy of service. New address: 2392 Sydney Ave., 40205.
And we bid farewell to Olivia Puckett, assistant AV editor and frequent trumpet soloist. She first joined the AV team during the Covid years and has been an invaluable part of our sound and video outreach. Olivia is moving to Lexington and continuing her work with Amadeus Lex, among other pursuits. We wish her many blessings in all her future endeavors! Morgan Traywick has accepted the vacant position and we are glad for her service.
Juneteenth Celebration this afternoon: The Berea Human Rights Commission will celebrate its 2nd Annual June-teenth Celebration on Sunday, June 15th from 4:00 – 7:00pm at the Berea Tourism Pavilion – Chestnut St., Berea. Music! Food trucks! History!
Samuel’s Kids Emergency need. One of the children at Samuel’s Kids Orphan-age in Uganda has a serious medical situation – he’s got a strangulated hernia, which gets steadily worse without proper treatment. If you can help, donations to help Shadrach can safely be made at gofund.me/3c7739cc
Mobile Health: White House Clinic’s mobile unit will be setting up in Union’s parking lot June 16 and 30 about 10-5ish, and can offer anything a primary care provider can do, but without an appointment. Services would be available to anyone in the community, not just college kids. FYI: our Office Admin had them look at her vicious case of poison ivy and got a prescription for a steroid cream. No waiting.
Help for our neighbors in Laurel County: Here are greatest needs we know of right now: totes, tarps, tie downs, large industrial garbage bags, and large magnets. Work gloves, first aid sup-plies, cardboard boxes, and packing tape are also needed.
If you are able and interested in helping onsite, make sure you have current tetanus and Hepatitis A shots for your protection. Donations of money can be made at ky.gov.
International Students coming to Berea Soon! Community Friendship Program (CFP) This is your invitation to get to know, and be a friend to, freshman international students arriving in August to Berea College. The CFP was started by a group of individuals from local churches interested in reaching out to these students who were far from home, often for the first time. What an opportunity to learn about other cultures, and to build connec-tions for peace!
Note: Students live on campus, NOT at your house, and the Center for International Education (CIE) on campus is there to take care of students’ needs. Questions? Contact Laura Compton 859-353-1497 or email: communityfriendshipprogram@ berea.edu by July 12, pls.
