Dear friends and members of Union Church,
This beloved community of which you are a part relies on the ministry of all folks to carry outs its mission to serve our church, our community and the world in the name of Jesus, and YOU are invited to participate in making that happen. While there are a few leadership positions for the governance of our church which require official membership, they are few — and ALL people may serve. Every one of our Boards and Committees will welcome you with open arms and gratitude.
Howard Thurman has suggested that “to determine what makes you alive, and do that!” – is an opportunity for each of us to make a difference in our lives and the lives of others. Within the context of the church, enjoining your passion (gifts) with our needs, helps Union Church do its ministry most effectively.
Below are places of opportunity:
- Administration Board – Personnel, policies for those involved in that function of Union Church.
- Finance Board – Management of financial resources and needs of Union Church.
- Properties Board – Management and ascertaining the needs of the physical property of Union Church.
- Faith Development Board – Providing programs and opportunities which enable spiritual growth for all ages.
- Worship Board – Enabling the work of the Holy Spirit to serve us as we praise, pray, and nurture our souls.
- Mission Board – Exploring and assisting in programs to raise funds & distribution of designated funds beyond our Union Church doors to provide much needed assistance in our community and world.
- Nurture and Care Board – Programs which provide for the special needs of our members.
- Community Life and Growth Board – Programs and activities which enhance the fellowship and inclusive invitation to participation in Union Church.
- Pastoral Relations Board – The listening ear of both pastor and congregation and provide effective communication between as well as primary support of clergy staff.
- Nominating Board – Actively engage in filling the positions of leadership of the Boards and Committees of Union Church.
Elections will be held at Union Church’s Annual Meeting, March 18. Please prayerfully consider your role in the leadership needs of our church and be in contact with Carla Gilbert (carla_gilbert@windstream.net or 859-358-2962) and Dave Kobersmith (davek@union-church.org or 859-986-3725.
