New Members Welcome! As a family of faith committed to boldly and creatively embodying the life and ministry of Jesus, we would like to join with YOU. We’d like to be a context and inspiration for your own spiritual path, and work with you to make your heart, your world, your life more peace-filled and joy-full. Join today, or any 3rd Sunday of the month!
Justice Candle Honorees sought. Would you like to nominate some folks for us to highlight? They can be living or dead, famous or not. We’d especially love stories of people who are local to Berea, or close to your hearts, and we love to have stories of children and young people, too.
It helps us remember that each of us can do God’s work of advocating for those who are poor and/or oppressed, for the environment, for peace and reconciliation. Every choice we make, from how we speak and act to what we eat or wear and where that food and clothing come from has an effect, one way or another, on the cause of peace, justice, and equity for all.
We’ve got a lot of little lights out there — let’s help them shine!
You can nominate people by contacting Tennant Kirk tykirk53@gmail.com.
If there is a special date associated with that person or people, let us know that, too.

LongNight Service
Dec. 21, 7 pm, Cowan Chapel
Sometimes what can’t wait are the feelings of loss and grief. Christmas is not a denial of these hard realities, but meant to be a healing balm to them. On the longest night of the year, you are invited to join us for a “Come As You Really Are” service of hope, strength, and comfort. If you have experienced a hard loss, a deep grief, or are walking through a bleak place, this service is meant to hold and offer prayers for healing. You need not be a member of this church or any church to keep watch as we wait for the light to grow.
Christmas Eve at Union Church
6:30 pm Outdoor Community Sing
Join in the joy of Christmas Eve with an outdoor community sing with candles and delight! Gather on the front lawn of Union Church with neighbors and friends. People of every church, people of no church, strangers and family alike can raise their voices on this holy night. Candles provided.
Join us for a special procession to the Christmas Eve (indoor) worship service followed by refreshments (Community Life & Growth Board asks for finger-food, or small bites only please, so nobody has to stay and wash dishes)! All are welcome!
7:30 pm Sanctuary, Christmas Eve Celebration
The glory of God shines all around us in this service of music, word, and praise. This year our service begins at 7:30pm and concludes with passing the light of Jesus, candle to candle: a truly wonderful highlight of the year. Stay for a potluck reception of finger foods and cookies to follow! All are welcome and all offerings will go to support unfed, unsheltered, and unheated members of our community. Come be part of the blessing!
11:00 pm Cowan Chapel, Christmas Eve Service
Beyond all the hubbub the quiet stable welcomes us to all the love that just can’t wait. Come join in a candlelit service with communion celebrating the coming of the Christ into the world and all that Jesus’ arrival means.
