This past week’s theme for Kentuckians for the Commonwealth and Kentucky Council of Churches for their work in Frankfort was Criminal Justice. Earlier this month a number of us attended the sessions in Lexington or Richmond on Bail Reform. It just so happens that the movie “Just Mercy” is currently showing in Richmond. The movie is based on the 2014 book “Just Mercy” by Bryan Stevenson, which recounts his unsuccessful experience defending a client on death row.
The Mission & Service Board is suggesting that Union Church folks who are interested and available go to Richmond right after church Sunday for the 12:25 showing. Take a snack with you (or buy popcorn at the theatre). There are always a number of “previews” of upcoming movies before the main attraction.
If you would like to go, but will need a ride, please e-mail Betty Hibler (betty_hibler@berea.edu) so we can plan transportation.
Depending on how this works out, we might also consider stopping at Panera after the movie for coffee/food/conversation.
