Each week we will have a Guest Speaker, special music and time to fellowship.
Berea United Methodist Church welcomes the community to Lenten Speaker Series:
“Berea UMC Lenten Journey of Faith 2022” which will take place at the BUMC Parish House at 101 Fee St. (the corner of Chestnut and Fee) Wednesdays, March 2 thru April 13 from Noon -12:50pm. Each Wednesday will feature a guest speaker, special music, and time for fellowship.
Attendees ARE INVITED TO BRING A SACK LUNCH. (Due to COVID safety precautions, a meal will not be served.)
Masking and social distancing will be observed.
These events will be in person and streamed live on Facebook (later on YouTube channel).
We hope you will join us in this journey of remembering Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross in anticipation of celebrating His resurrection on Easter morning.
March 2 Reverend Jim Burnham
Reverend Jim Burnham is a retired pastor, was a missionary to Israel and a U. S. Army paratrooper chaplain. Jim says he is “retired, but still as active as my 85-year-old body will allow”.
March 9 Amy Nichols Dr. Amy McCleese Nichols serves as Director of Writing Resources at Berea College. Amy, her husband, and two children have been active members of Berea UMC since 2019.
March 16 Randy Dinsmore
Randy Dinsmore is a husband, father and has a degree in philosophy from Berea college. For the past 42 years he has represented individuals seeking Social Security disability benefits. On his Lenten journey he hopes to focus on Christ’s ability to set us free from bondage.
March 23 Laura Warren
Laura Warren is a retired artist, mom of a kindergartener and 2 adult girls. As a member of the family of Christ, she feels God’s call to serve and had desired to serve in missions overseas. After much prayer she felt the guidance of the Holy Spirit to serve girls in her own community. She became a girl scout leader 21 years ago, calling it her mission. Her best days include conversations with girls about the beauty and integrity of God’s creation. She describes herself as frequently overwhelmed and listening for “that still small voice”.
March 30 Richard Hatch
Richard Hatch is a retired culinary arts teacher and grandfather, who strives to build God’s church and strengthen his faith in Christ Jesus. He is passionate about helping others and spreading the grace and love of the Lord.
April 6 Father Justin Patterson Fr. Justin has been an Orthodox Christian priest since 2005 and since December 2006 has served as pastor of St. Athanasius Orthodox Church in Nicholasville, Kentucky. In the years he has served St. Athanasius, Fr. Justin was able to shepherd the community through a building program, from a storefront-type existence into a proper church.
April 13 Mark and Lisa Caldwell-Reiss
Mark and Lisa Caldwell-Reiss are co-pastors of First Christian Church, Berea, KY. Lisa and Mark are excited to share a part of the Lenten Journey with you. As we journey these 40 days, your prayerful/mutual support enriches that wonderful day of Easter when we celebrate Christ, the Risen Lord.
Wearing Masks and social distancing will be observed.
